Golden variegated foliage ensures the Touch of Gold™ Holly will brighten up a dark corner of your landscape or any area in need of some vibrant year-round color. Bright golden yellow leaves with flecks of green cover woody branches. This low-maintenance dwarf plant will be about 2 feet tall, making it a great filler in beds or visually breaking up different areas. The Ilex crenata 'Adorned' provides dependable color throughout the fall and winter.

This Holly plant is versatile and can be used as a low hedge in borders, foundation plantings, or rock gardens. This variety can easily live in containers for even more flexible uses. Like most other varieties of Holly, the Touch of Gold™ Holly is deer resistant and disease and pest resistant. This plant grows as a perennial in USDA zones 6 through 9.

Touch of Gold™ Holly Plant Care

Plant this shrub in full sun to part shade. This Holly needs 4 to 6 hours of sunlight during the warmer months to maintain the beautiful variegation in the foliage. Water several times a week during the first year to help the plant settle in. Once established, this plant will need water when the top few inches of soil are dry. The soil should promote draining and have a slightly acidic pH.

This plant naturally has a rounded appearance and does not require pruning. Trim away any overgrowth or damaged sections in the spring as needed before new growth appears. Feed Holly in the spring using a balanced fertilizer.

Touch of Gold™ Holly Plant Spacing

Once established, the Touch of Gold™ Holly will be 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Create a continuous hedge by spacing plants 3 feet apart. Plant this Holly 5 feet away from buildings and other plants if you want to maintain a more open look.

The plants arrived in great condition, as they always do. Holly’s had a nice root system and managed well in part shade before I got them in the ground.

My wife and I are retired. We had a nursery/garden

My wife and I are retired. We had a nursery/garden center for 25 years. Nice to find a family run nursery to buy plants from in our retirement, and not a big box store! We wish you and your family sucess.
