True Endearment Rose (Rosa ‘True Endearment’) is a breathtaking floribunda with layers of red petals that command attention in any garden. The blooms measure around 3.5 inches across and display an impressive petal count of 70 or more, making a lush visual statement against the plant’s glossy foliage. A peppery fragrance adds intrigue, distinguishing this variety from standard roses. Reaching about 3 feet tall and wide, it suits cozy gardens, patio containers, and border plantings.

This remarkable rose delivers outstanding heat tolerance and minimal upkeep, proving itself a valuable choice for many climates. Its compact form works well in mixed plantings or as a standalone focal point. As it thrives on its own roots, it resists common rose ailments and remains steadfast through changing weather. Originating in California, it has the versatility to be featured in garden beds, decorative containers, or even as a low-growing hedge.

True Endearment Rose Care

Plant this rose in a location that offers full sun for most of the day. Provide moderately rich, well-draining soil, ideally with a slightly acidic to neutral pH range. Water consistently during the growing season, allowing the soil surface to dry between waterings while avoiding prolonged soggy conditions. A balanced, rose-specific fertilizer applied according to label recommendations encourages healthy growth and repeated blooming. Mulch around the base to help regulate moisture and temperature levels.

Pruning generally involves deadheading spent blooms to prompt new flowers, along with removing any damaged stems. Light trimming in early spring helps shape the plant and maintain good airflow, which deters disease. If overwintering in containers, protect roots from freezing temperatures or move pots to a more sheltered spot.

True Endearment Rose Spacing

When planting a row or hedge, leave approximately 2.5 to 3 feet between each rose for healthy airflow and balanced growth. For container cultivation, choose a pot around 14 to 16 inches in diameter to provide ample space for root development. Adjust spacing based on personal preference if a tighter display or fuller hedge is desired.
