True Joy Rose (Rosa ‘True Joy’) showcases golden-yellow blooms with over 50 petals in each flower, creating a radiant display that draws the eye to any garden. The blossoms measure around four inches wide, delivering a mild, spicy fragrance that lingers pleasantly in the air. Standing about four to six feet tall and three to five feet across, this floribunda rose grows into a commanding presence without overwhelming nearby plants. Awarded for its robust performance and exceptional disease resistance, it surpasses many other rose varieties in both beauty and durability.
This remarkable rose thrives in a range of settings and makes an outstanding choice for borders, mixed beds, or feature plantings. It boasts glossy, dark green foliage that complements the bright blooms throughout the season, creating a striking color contrast. Bred by Peter Ping Lim, it has proven its reliability and resilience in diverse regions. Its versatile growth habit also suits container gardens, providing a charming accent on patios or decks.
True Joy Rose Care
Plant in a location that receives full sun, especially during peak daylight hours, to encourage abundant flowering. Provide well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, and amend with organic matter if necessary. Water regularly, letting the top inch of soil dry out between irrigation sessions to prevent rot or fungal issues. A balanced fertilizer or rose-specific blend applied in early spring and again after the first flush of blooms supports new growth and repeat flowering. A layer of mulch helps moderate soil temperature and moisture levels around the plant’s base.
Deadheading spent blooms prompts fresh buds and sustains a neat appearance. Thinning out older canes in late winter or early spring promotes healthy growth and blooms. Occasional light trimming keeps the shape pleasing and removes any diseased or damaged stems. Container-grown specimens may need extra protection in cold climates, such as bringing pots to sheltered spots or wrapping containers.
True Joy Rose Spacing
Allow around three to four feet between plants when planting in rows or hedges to accommodate growth and maintain good air circulation. In mass plantings or larger designs, consider up to five feet of space for a more open arrangement and definition of form. Select a container at least 16 inches in diameter for new plantings, and be ready to size up as the roots expand. Proper spacing and container selection contribute to healthy development and long-lasting beauty.
