True Perfume Rose (Rosa ‘True Perfume’) delivers an enchanting blend of pink petals with a soft, white reverse, creating a beautiful two-tone effect. Each ruffled flower measures about 4 inches wide, brimming with over 50 petals and a classic rosy fragrance. The blooms appear from spring until frost, standing out against glossy green leaves that resist common rose diseases. Growing to a compact 2 to 4 feet in height and width, this hybrid tea shrub rose easily fits smaller gardens or decorative containers. Its irresistible perfume, extended blooming season, and robust constitution make True Perfume a standout addition to any sunny landscape.

True Perfume Rose is surprisingly easy to maintain. Bred to combine the elegance of traditional roses with the dependable vigor of modern cultivars, it handles varying climates in zones 6 to 8. This rose is suitable as a striking border accent, a lush container centerpiece, or grouped en masse to form an aromatic hedge. Thanks to its compact habit and disease resistance, it demands less work while still offering abundant color. Place it near seating areas or windows to enjoy its delightful perfume and charming bicolored petals up close.

True Perfume Rose Care

Prepare a planting hole around 2 feet deep and wide in well-drained, loamy soil enriched with compost. Ensure the plant receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily to promote heavy flowering. After planting, water thoroughly and continue to water about two to three times per week once new growth emerges, keeping the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. A balanced, water-soluble fertilizer (like 20-20-20) applied in spring, summer, and early fall encourages lush foliage and prolific blooms. Adding mulch helps preserve soil moisture and moderate temperatures around the roots.

Prune True Perfume Rose in early spring to remove any dead or weak canes, shaping the shrub for fresh growth and ample flowering. Light deadheading of spent blooms can prolong the blooming season and maintain a tidy appearance, though the plant is somewhat self-cleaning. If grown in containers, you may need to protect it in colder months by moving pots to a sheltered area or adding extra mulch. Refresh potting mix periodically to ensure adequate nutrition and drainage for consistent growth.

True Perfume Rose Spacing

When planting True Perfume Roses in a hedge or row, allow 2 to 3 feet between shrubs for healthy expansion and proper air circulation. In mass plantings, the same spacing creates a cohesive display while preventing overcrowding. If you plan on container cultivation, choose a pot at least 14 inches in diameter to accommodate the root system, providing adequate room for this compact rose to flourish.
