Growing Zones
Clusters of deep pink flowers contrast against creamy white and green variegated foliage, giving Nerium oleander ‘Twist of Pink’ a striking appearance throughout the growing season. Blooming from late spring through fall, this evergreen shrub maintains its color and structure year-round. At maturity, it reaches 6 to 8 feet tall and equally wide, forming a dense, bushy habit ideal for privacy screens, hedges, or container displays. This plant thrives in warm climates where other shrubs may struggle.
Twist of Pink Oleander tolerates salt and drought and is well-suited for coastal and arid landscapes. It is deer resistant, making it a smart choice in areas with browsing wildlife. This shrub performs well in mass plantings, as an accent, or along slopes for erosion control. It is highly adaptable, growing in various soil types and requiring minimal upkeep once established. Due to its toxic properties, it is best suited for spaces away from pets and small children.
Twist of Pink Oleander Care
For best results, plant in full sun with well-drained soil. This oleander tolerates sandy, loamy, or clay soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Once established, it requires little supplemental watering, though occasional deep watering during extended dry periods can improve overall vigor. A light application of balanced fertilizer in early spring promotes lush foliage and abundant blooms.
Prune in early spring before new growth emerges to shape the plant and remove any winter-damaged branches. Deadheading spent blooms is not necessary but can encourage additional flowering. In colder zones, container-grown plants can be overwintered indoors to protect them from frost.
Twist of Pink Oleander Spacing
For a solid hedge, space plants 6 feet apart. In mixed plantings or as individual specimens, allow at least 8 to 10 feet between shrubs to distinguish the forms of each plant. When grown in containers, choose a pot at least 18 inches in diameter to support the plant’s root system and provide stability as it matures.
