The Undaunted® Muhly Grass is a particularly beautiful ornamental grass that deserves space in every landscape. It develops fine green stems, which highlight red clouds of fine flowers in late summer that stand well throughout the winter. Botanically known as Muhlenbergia reverchonii, this perennial grass is long lived and tough and looks magical in the winter sun.

Hardy in zones 5 to 9, the Undaunted® Muhly Grass is both heat and drought tolerant once established. It has an upright yet arching habit and grows to around 30 inches tall. This ornamental grass is perfect for growing as a specimen or en masse in a border. Requiring little ongoing care, it is considered low maintenance. 

Undaunted® Muhly Grass Care

The Undaunted® Muhly Grass performs best when it is given full sun. It can tolerate a little shade, but too much may cause it to flop. When it comes to the soil, a free-draining substrate is essential. Water regularly for the first year. After it establishes, water only during extended dry spells. No fertilizing is necessary.

In late winter you can cut back all growth to around 4 inches above soil level. Divide large clumps every 3 to 5 years in the fall or spring. 

Undaunted® Muhly Grass Spacing

The Undaunted® Muhly Grass grows to around 30 inches tall and 48 inches across. To allow this grass room to mature, you can plant it at a spacing of around 42 - 48 inches.
