Do you want to add some height or color to your landscape? How about both with the Unplugged® Pink™ Salvia. This easy-care plant reaches 30 inches and features brilliant pink trumpet-shaped flowers. Blooms grow from tall stems and dangle above glossy dark green foliage. The bright pink flowers are contrasted with the black calyx, which is the outer cover of the bud that recedes to the base of the flower once the bud opens. This plant continuously blooms starting in the spring and until the fall.
The heat- and drought-tolerant Unplugged® Pink™ Salvia is native to North America, primarily the western U.S. and Mexico. This plant grows as a perennial in USDA zones 9, 10, and 11. Salvia is an upright plant commonly used as a thriller in containers, but it also thrives when used in borders, landscapes, and mass plantings. Salvia is a popular plant with pollinators and attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Unplugged® Pink™ Salvia Plant Care:
Salvia plants need sun to part sun, so a bright area that receives at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight exposure is ideal. Established Salvia plants can usually sustain themselves with rainfall but may need water during a dry spell. Potted plants will need water when the top few inches of the soil dry out. Soil should be well-draining and moderately acidic to slightly alkaline with a pH of 5.5 to 6.5. Salvia is tough, and this plant is completely fine with very little help, but monthly feedings can ensure the plant continues to push out beautiful blooms all season long. Potted Salvia plants can be fed every other week to support growth.
Deadheading is unnecessary, but trim the plant if it starts to look overgrown. Pruning the Salvia will promote branching and even more blooms and create a thick and full plant.
Unplugged® Pink™ Salvia Plant Spacing:
Salvia is great for adding color and height to beds and containers. The Unplugged® Pink™ Salvia can reach 14 to 30 inches tall and spread out 12 to 20 inches. Space plants 12 to 20 inches when growing in the ground and use 1 to 3 plants in a 12-inch container.
