Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm

Bee Balm is an easy-care perennial known for uniquely textured flowers and foliage that gives off a sweet fragrance. The Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm is a Monarda hybrid. The large flowers are 3½” wide and have feathery fluorescent pink petals with light pink interiors, creating a two-tone effect. The flowers grow on sturdy, well-branched stems. The Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm blooms mid-summer, and with proper care, may bloom a second time.

The Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm is a clump-forming plant with an upright growth habit. Feature this lovely flowering perennial in beds, borders, or containers. The flowers and the foliage emit a sweet smell, so feature it near a door, walkway, or outdoor entertaining space to enjoy the plant fully. Dark green foliage provides a nice contrast to the bold pink flowers. Pollinators are drawn to this plant. The Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm grows in zones 4 through 8.

Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm Care

Select an area that receives full to partial sun for the Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm. This perennial prefers rich soil that is moist but also allows water to drain. Bee Balm plants have medium to high water needs, so keep the plant hydrated, especially during a dry period. A layer of organic mulch will prevent the soil from drying out as fast while also supporting new growth. Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring to help the Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm start the growing season strong. 

Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms. Trim up to one-third of the growth after the flowers fade to encourage a more dense and full look and promote more flowers.

Upscale™ 'Pink Chenille' Bee Balm Spacing

This medium-sized plant will grow 20 to 22 inches tall and 18 to 22 inches wide. Space plants 22 inches apart to create a dense planting while also allowing space for air to circulate around the foliage.
