Waxwing Gold mirror bush’s glossy green and yellow leaves shine in the landscape. When temperatures drop, the edges of the leaves take on a tinge of red. This evergreen gets about 30 inches tall and has a 36-inch spread, suggesting Waxwing Gold mirror bush will be a shimmery ground cover or low-growing shrub. It also works well as a border or edging plant or in a mass planting. In a pot, it would be a beautiful filler. The plant is deer resistant.

Waxwing Gold mirror bush (Coprosma repens) is heat tolerant and because it’s evergreen, has colorful winter interest. Small greenish flowers appear in spring, but they are not showy. This naturally mounded plant is grown and appreciated for its variegated foliage. In cold climates, Waxwing Gold mirror bush can be grown as a houseplant. There’s also a Waxwing Lime.

Fun Fact: The scientific name for waxwing, Coprosma, means "smells of dung" in Greek. Thankfully this plant species does not smell bad!

Waxwing Gold Mirror Bush Care

Grow in full to part sunlight. It does fine in average soil and with average watering. It can be trimmed throughout the season or allowed to be a low branching shrub.

This plant can also be grown as a houseplant in colder areas of the United States. If you choose to do that, the plant will need a south facing window so it receives enough sunlight.

Waxwing Gold Mirror Bush Spacing

Plant about 36 inches, center on center, where the center of one Waxwing Gold mirror bush is 36 inches from the center of the next one or from another plant or structure.
