Wedding Party® is a collection of the most striking color combinations available in Hellebores. Whirlwind Romance displays fully double flowers with vibrant burgundy vein markings on a pure white petal base. The evergreen foliage is deep green and very sturdy, resulting in a naturally compact and mounding growth habit. Wedding Party® Hellebores have a wide growing range from USDA zones 4a-9b, with little extra winter protection needed.
Hellebores are often the earliest blooming plants and make a gorgeous backdrop for spring bulbs. Place Hellebores in the middle or front of a garden border or grow them in a container as part of a seasonal color display. The flowers attract the earliest native pollinators and are especially beautiful and long-lasting in flower arrangements. Deer and rabbits are not interested in the tough green leaves or flower buds, making this a valuable plant to grow in areas with heavy deer browsing. Hellebores are not overly hungry plants and require minimal feeding.
Wedding Party® Whirlwind Romance Lenten Rose Care
Lenten Rose is perfect for growing in either partial to full shade alongside other woodland plants. Well-draining soil is absolutely necessary year-round to protect this plant from fungal diseases and root rot. A moderately fertile soil with a pH between 7.0-8.0 is ideal. Mulching with an organic material such as compost or shredded leaves helps the soil retain moisture and gently adds nutrients as the mulch decomposes. As Hellebores mature and establish, they become drought tolerant.
Lenten Rose is an evergreen perennial that requires pruning typically only in late winter as the plant begins to produce new stems. Cut away the previous year’s foliage to reveal fresh, clean growth, which will continue to grow through the spring and summer. Throughout the growing season, remove dead or dying leaf stems from the base of the plant. Fertilize Hellebores lightly in late spring with a balanced, granular fertilizer.

Whirlwind Romance Lenten Rose maintains a naturally compact height and width of 24 inches. Space plants 18-20 inches apart when planting amongst other perennials and shrubs in a garden border. Container-grown plants will require at least a 12-inch diameter pot.
