Growing Zones
The creeping tendency and lovely flowers make the Woodlander Pink Phlox a perfect addition to a shady landscape or outdoor container. Large 5-petaled flowers bloom in clusters on reddish stems. Bright pink flowers have white accents near the eye for added visual interest. This native perennial is a vigorous grower that quickly fills in and has a dense form.
The Woodlander Pink Phlox is more than just pretty flowers. The fragrant blooms attract pollinators, making this plant a great addition to a butterfly garden. Feature this mounded plant in a border or mixed bed, or under a tree or tall shrub. The trailing stems look lovely in a container where this plant works as a filler. This phlox is drought tolerant and easy to maintain, a perfect plant for busy or forgetful gardeners. The Woodlander Pink Phlox is deer resistant, so the flowers and foliage are unlikely to fall victim to foraging animals.
Woodlander Pink Phlox Care
Plant this Phlox in moist, well-drained soil with high organic content. Partial sun, about 4 to 6 hours daily, supports growth. Give new plants consistent water, but established plants only need water during a dry period. These plants are not heavy feeders, but applying balanced fertilizer in the spring encourages abundant growth.
Prune the plant after the flowers fade. Remove damaged growth in late winter before new growth emerges.
Woodlander Pink Phlox Spacing
Woodlander Pink Phlox reaches 4 to 6 inches tall and spreads 8 to 10 inches across. Space plants 8 inches apart to create a dense mass planting or feature three plants in a 12-inch container.
