Growing Zones
When it flowers in early May, the Woodlander White Phlox is simply covered with large white blooms. A cross between a creeping and woodland phlox, the Woodlander White Phlox is tough, easy to grow, and highly versatile. A low-growing perennial, this phlox reaches around 4 to 6 inches high and is evergreen.
A true pollinator magnet, the Woodlander White Phlox is also deer and drought tolerant. This perennial is cold hardy and grows in zones 4 to 8. It tumbles freely and is ideal for forming an evergreen groundcover or for growing in a rock garden. It is also effective for growing as an understory plant.
Woodlander White Phlox Care
Partial shade is where the Woodlander White Phlox really thrives. When it comes to the ground, it favors fertile soil that is moist and well drained. Water Woodlander White regularly to keep the soil moist but not overly saturated. Fertilize with organic matter or a slow-release general-purpose feed in early spring.
Minimal pruning is required. However, you can lightly trim this phlox in late winter before new growth and flowers appear in spring.
Woodlander White Phlox Spacing
The Woodlander White Phlox generally grows to 4 to 6 inches tall and 8 to 10 inches wide. Space each plant 10 inches apart or slightly closer for ground cover purposes.
