Yellow Twig Dogwood (Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea') is a hardy ornamental shrub grown in USDA zones 2-8. This plant features stunning yellow bark that adds warmth to fall and winter landscapes. During the growing season, the tiny white flowers and showy fruits of Yellow Twig Dogwood attract butterflies and songbirds.

Yellow Twig Dogwood is tough, and adaptable to poor soil environments. It grows to a mature size of about 6-8 ft tall and 5-6 ft wide. Yellow twig is easy to grow, deer tolerant, and disease and pest resistant.

Yellow Twig Dogwood Care

Providing full sun for this plant will produce the best color. Plant your dogwood in nutrient-rich, moist soil. Yellow Twig Dogwood is tolerant of soggy soils and prefers to be moist. However, after the plant is established, it should be able to handle short periods of drought.

Prune to stimulate growth and to control the size of your Yellow Twig Dogwood. Remove roughly 20% of the old stems during early spring so that the plant maintains its warm yellow coloration.

Yellow Twig Dogwood Spacing

This vigorous grower looks great in mass plantings, hedges, and borders. Yellow Twig Dogwood is also excellent for erosion control when planted next to ponds or lakes. Space each plant approximately 5 feet apart for a tight planting.
