You and Me Always® blooms like no other Astilbe. The shocking pink flowerheads continue blooming long after older varieties have finished for the summer. The ferny foliage of this Astilbe mixes wonderfully amongst other shady woodland plants to give your garden border depth and contrasting texture. Astilbe chinensis ‘You and Me Always’ is easy to grow and requires less maintenance than other early summer perennials that fade fast once the heat of summer arrives. 

Plant You and Me Always® in a shaded woodland border or as part of a mixed seasonal planter for a shaded front porch or entryway. Anywhere it grows, the bright pink flower plumes are irresistible to touch. Beneficial insects and other pollinators love Astilbe in full bloom as do flower arrangers. The cut flowers are long-lasting in a vase and add unique texture to arrangements. You and Me Always® Astilbe comes with built-in deer, pest, and disease resistance.  

You and Me Always® Astilbe Care

Part to full shade is the ideal spot to grow Astilbes, resulting in a longer flowering period and deep green foliage. You and Me Always® is not picky about soil pH and does not need heavy fertilizing. Astilbes appreciate well-drained soil, so amend heavy clay with organic compost to improve drainage. They also prefer consistent moisture and typically do not tolerate even short periods of drought. Drip irrigation or soaker hoses are perfect for delivering water directly to the root system while keeping the foliage dry and less susceptible to fungal diseases.

Clean up last season's top growth early in the spring before the new shoots appear. This is also a good time to apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the plant to help conserve moisture in the soil and suppress weeds during the growing season. Deadheading will encourage the plant to form more flower spikes, although You and Me Always® will keep blooming even without this step. 

You and Me Always® Spacing

Astilbes look stunning planted in large groups either at the front of a border or behind low-growing plants. You and Me Always® is a medium-sized Astilbe measuring 18-24 inches high and 18 inches wide. Space plants 12-18 inches apart when planting in a garden bed. Grow one Astilbe in a container with at least a 10-inch diameter.
