Yuki Cherry Blossom® 2.0 Deutzia turns the front of a border into a solid sweep of pink each spring. Deutzia × ‘SMNDXI’ stays just 1 to 2 feet tall and spreads 2 to 3 feet wide, forming a tight, low mound. The two-toned blooms—white centers edged in pink—hold their color better than older varieties. Part of the Proven Winners® ColorChoice® collection, this improved selection was bred for stronger color and a more compact, mounded shape.

Flower clusters line burgundy-tinged stems in mid to late spring, drawing early pollinators without inviting deer browsing. After bloom, tidy green foliage carries the plant through summer before shifting to rich burgundy-purple in fall. Yuki Cherry Blossom® 2.0 blooms on old wood, so the show is set long before winter ends. Massed along slopes or edging pathways, it suppresses weeds while adding layered seasonal interest.

Yuki Cherry Blossom® 2.0 Deutzia Care

Plant in full sun for the best flower density and fall color, though part sun is suitable in warmer regions. Soil should drain reliably, with a slightly acidic to neutral pH around 6.0–7.0. Provide steady moisture in spring while buds and blooms develop, then reduce frequency once established. Fertilizing is minimal; a light application of balanced granular feed in early spring is sufficient if growth appears slow.

Prune only after flowering if shaping is needed. Remove wayward stems to maintain the low dome. If plants become sparse over time, cut back hard immediately after bloom to encourage fresh basal growth.

Yuki Cherry Blossom® 2.0 Deutzia Spacing

Space Yuki Cherry Blossom® 2.0 2 to 3 feet apart for a continuous carpet effect in landscape design. In containers, use it as a low spiller in a wide bowl at least 18 inches across. In the landscape, plant beneath panicle hydrangea to anchor taller shrubs with spring color. For a layered border, position this deutzia in front of dwarf ninebark or tuck along the base of ornamental allium for a spring sequence that transitions smoothly into summer structure.
