The Zagreb Tickseed is a hardy plant that effortlessly handles summer heat and provides a bright burst of color. Bold yellow daisy flowers feature wide petals that are gently rounded and surround a darker center. The Coreopsis verticillata blooms from late June through late August for consistent color during the warmer months. Abundant green needle-like foliage gives this vigorous-growing plant a full look.

This upright, clump-forming plant has a compact form and makes a striking and low-maintenance addition to beds, borders, or mass plantings. Pollinators favor Tickseed while in bloom, and birds will enjoy the seeds after the flowers fade. This plant is heat-, humidity- and drought-tolerant to handle just about any challenge related to summer weather. The Zagreb Tickseed is a perennial in USDA growing zones 3 through 8.

Zagreb Tickseed Care

Zagreb Tickseed loves full sun, so select a spot that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight. Use moist but well-drained soil that is slightly acidic or neutral. Water this Tickseed plant when the top couple of inches of soil feels dry. Established plants are drought-tolerant but water the plant during a very dry spell to ensure continued flower production.

Tickseeds do not require fertilization, but a dose of slow-release plant food in the spring will support abundant growth. The Zagreb Tickseed is a fast grower, so thin the plant every couple of years during the spring or fall.

Zagreb Tickseed Spacing

The Zagreb Tickseed is a clump-forming plant that reaches 18 to 24 inches tall and wide. Space this perennial 18 to 24 inches from other plants to create a full, mass planting.
