Feature
The subtle variegation on the Arrowhead Ivy foliage gives this plant a sedate and refined look. The leaves have an arrowhead shape and expand as they mature, forming a dense canopy that can be left to trail from a hanging basket or trimmed back to create a more mounded shape. The fast-growing stems are also stunning when trained to grow up a moss pole or trellis. Syngonium podophyllum requires little maintenance and does not mind being moved from one room to the next as needed.
Best Locations For Growing Syngonium Albo Variegata
This tropical plant originates from the jungles of Mexico and South America and requires moderate humidity levels (40-50%). It can be placed in any room with the right lighting. Display Syngonium on a table or low shelf where the showy leaves can easily be admired. Hang this plant out of reach of pets and children, as it is considered toxic if eaten.
Syngonium Albo Variegata Sunlight Requirements
Medium to bright indirect light helps your arrowhead plant keep its distinctive variegation and deep green coloring. The best spot is hanging directly in a west or east-facing window. The next best spot is opposite or off to the side of a south-facing window.
Syngonium Albo Variegata Care
Syngonium prefers a slightly more acidic potting mix than other houseplants and benefits from the addition of fine bark shreds or nuggets typically used to pot orchids or other epiphytic plants. A ratio of 2 parts potting mix to 1 part shredded bark will provide ample drainage around the root ball.
Syngonium is sensitive to changes in room temperature and requires a constant temperature between 60-80 degrees F (15-26 C). Repot only when the growth begins to dramatically slow or roots are coming out of the container's drainage holes.
Watering Syngonium Albo Variegata
Syngonium prefers soil that stays consistently moist but drains well. It should be watered regularly when the soil starts to dry out; however, the plant will tolerate occasional watering neglect and will quickly recover after a good soaking in a sink or tub.
Feeding Syngonium Albo Variegata
Use a diluted liquid fertilizer once a month during active growth in the spring and summer. A balanced fertilizer for houseplants will ensure healthy development of the stems and foliage while enhancing the leaves' dramatic variegation.
