This unusual and rare air plant will certainly draw attention. For starters, the air plant Tillandsia Andreana doesn’t require any soil to grow and produces thin, delicate and wispy leaves with a ball-shaped habit. Originating from South and Central America, this stunning air plant can even flower, producing red blooms that contrast against its green foliage. This Andreana Air Plant is perfect for showing off in pride of place, either individually in a terrarium or as part of a display.
Best Locations For Growing Andreana Air Plant
The Andreana Air Plant will grow in any room as long as it is not placed in bright direct sunlight and is kept warm. However, it is such an eye-catching plant, you’ll want to put it somewhere it will get noticed.
Andreana Air Plant Sunlight Requirements
This air plant requires a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight, which can scorch its elegant foliage. An east- or west-facing room is ideal.
Andreana Air Plant Care
The Andreana Air Plant requires a warm environment and is best kept at a temperature of 60 - 90 °F. Preferring a humid atmosphere, this air plant also requires good ventilation to remain healthy. This plant is fairly low maintenance, but may require some occasional pruning. Any brown, dead or broken leaves can simply be trimmed back using clean and sharp scissors, and make any cuts at an angle to help the pruned stems blend.
Watering Andreana Air Plant
Generally, the Andreana Air Plant needs to be submerged in water for 30 minutes and then allowed to dry, once to twice a week, but possibly more often in warmer conditions. Harvested rainwater is advisable, as tap water can contain chemical compounds that may harm your precious air plants. Misting every few days can also prevent your Andreana Air Plant from drying out, especially when humidity levels are low.
Feeding Andreana Air Plant
Although not strictly necessary, feeding your Andreana Air Plant can help encourage it to bloom and produce offsets. Only use a specific Bromeliad or Tillandsia fertilizer and follow the manufacturer’s instructions, as over-feeding or using other fertilizers may burn the foliage.
