Feature
Anthurium Fingers makes an unusual addition to any tropical plant collection. The strappy leaves grow from upright stems in sets of five, resembling a hand or fingers. The medium green coloring fits in with most indoor color schemes while the large strappy leaves add a textural element to any plant grouping. Anthurium pedatoradiatum is considered an air-cleaning plant that helps eliminate common toxins from the air indoors.
Best Locations For Growing Anthurium Fingers
Being a tropical plant, Anthurium prefers warm rooms with high humidity. Bathrooms and kitchens are great locations. Avoid placing the plants near heating vents or drafty doors. Provide additional humidity with daily misting from a fine mister bottle or a tray filled with LECA or gravel and water. The misting or humidity tray boosts humidity levels without exposing the plant to standing water.
Anthurium Fingers Sunlight Requirements
Bright indirect light or diffused light is ideal. An east or west-facing facing window provides bright exposure either early or late in the day. You can also place your plant on the wall opposite of a south-facing window to avoid burning the leaves in direct sunlight.
Anthurium Fingers Care
Anthurium grows well in tight spaces and does not mind being pot-bound as long as it stays well watered. Repot into a container only one or two sizes larger and only if the growth rate drops or the leaves begin to emerge smaller than normal.
Watering Anthurium Fingers
Regular watering once a week is ideal during the spring and summer when the plant is actively growing. As the days shorten, watering can be reduced to once every 2-3 weeks depending on light and humidity levels. Plants in low light can tolerate drier soils. Additional humidity is appreciated by spraying a fine mist around the plant daily.
Feeding Anthurium Fingers
Use a liquid fertilizer with a balanced NPK ratio during the spring and summer months. Apply it at half the strength recommended on the label every 3-4 weeks. Stop fertilizing when growth slows during the fall and winter months.
