Tillandsia Bandensis offers a unique growing habit and seriously small size. Leaves grow in one direction, so the plant form resembles a mohawk or fan of coral. Over time, the plant grows into divisible dense clusters. The foliage is an attractive light green to gray green. Tiny, lightly fragrant, purple flowers appear at the tips of thin stems.

Best Locations For Growing Bandensis Air Plant

Bandensis air plants prefer warm, humid environments with bright indirect sunlight. An east-facing window with morning light may offer the best light intensity. Situate it away from drafty windows or vents. These air plants do well in hanging pots without soil, terrariums, or decorative plantscapes as long as they have adequate humidity.

Bandensis Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

The Bandensis air plant performs best in bright indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can burn the foliage of this plant.

Bandensis Air Plant Care

Warm temperatures and high humidity are key to keeping the Bandensis air plant healthy. Good air flow is also important, as water sitting around the roots or at the base of leaves can lead to rot. This air plant forms clumps that can be gently divided.

Watering Bandensis Air Plant

Mist the Bandensis air plant with water several times per week. In hot, dry weather or when air conditioning is running, daily misting may be necessary. Alternatively, once per week or after a period of neglect, dunk the air plant in warm water for an hour and gently shake off the foliage to dry the plant. Avoid using softened water to mist or soak the plant.

Feeding Bandensis Air Plant

Use a liquid fertilizer labeled for air plants or orchids once or twice per month. If the plant is dry, soak it in warm water for twenty minutes, shake off excess water, and then apply fertilizer the following day.
