Plant in full sun, but in warm climates, select a spot with afternoon shade to encourage longer blooming. This plant is not fussy about the soil pH, but it prefers rich, well-drained soil. Plants grown in rich soil will not need fertilizer, but a dose of balanced fertilizer in the spring is helpful for plants in low-quality soil.
