Tall stems topped with clusters of tiny flowers make the Blue Hill Wood Sage a lovely perennial for a landscape. Densely spaced blue flowers provide dependable color and stand out against the narrow, deep green leaves. Also known as Salvia x sylvestris Blue Hill ('Blauhügel'), this plant blooms from spring through summer.

Blue Hill Wood Sage is a mounded plant with tall, branched stems. Feature in beds, borders, or mass plantings. The flowers stand about 2 feet tall, so plant this sage near the middle or back of a bed or plant along a fence or define a walkway. This sun-loving plant is popular with pollinators and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 8.

Blue Hill Wood Sage Care

Blue Hill Wood Sage needs full sun to partial shade. Plant in rich soil that promotes drainage. Water this perennial weekly or when several inches of soil dry out at the top. Feed this plant using a balanced fertilizer each spring.

Deadheading is unnecessary. This plant is a herbaceous perennial, and growth can be cut back in the fall or removed in the early spring.

Blue Hill Wood Sage Spacing

This is a mounded, upright plant with branched stems that will reach 18 to 24 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide. Plant Blue Hill Wood Sage 12 to 18 inches apart to create a full, flowering mass planting.
