The indigos and purples of the Boulevard Ines Clematis’ blooms are enough to mesmerize any plant lover! The Boulevard series of clematis is sometimes referred to as “compact patio clematis.” They offer the vigor, bloom, and beauty you’ve come to expect from clematis vines, but in a compact form that’s perfect for growing in containers or small gardens. With its saturated colors and consistent, all-season bloom, Ines is a spectacular addition to the series.
Boulevard Ines Clematis is a great choice for planting in a narrow or small garden where aggressive vines just won’t do. Try it in a border planting or container with an ornamental trellis. Clematis is a deer-resistant plant that is potentially poisonous to humans and animals, so keep this in mind when planting.
Boulevard® Ines Clematis Care
An application of compost or well-balanced fertilizer in the early spring will support the vigorous growth and bloom through the summer. Keep the soil moist, but allow it to dry between waterings so that it doesn’t get too wet. Heavily mulch your clematis or plant it near taller plants so that the roots can remain cool. Be sure to site it in a location where the leaves get at least 4 hours or more of sunlight per day.
This vine is in pruning group 3. Which means that Boulevard Ines Clematis is a type of Clematis that blooms on new growth, so pruning in the early spring is essential to maximize flowers. Trim the plant back to 2’-3’ to allow new growth and flowers to flourish.
Boulevard® Ines Clematis Spacing
A smaller clematis variety, Boulevard Ines will only grow to about 4’ in height and 2’ in width. It’s a great vine choice for large containers of at least 12” diameter. Allow for 2’ of space when planting in the ground.
