It appreciates high humidity but can tolerate typical home levels of 30-40% during the winter months. This plant is well-suited for high-traffic areas like halls or entryways due to its durability and resistance to occasional brushing. Cordyline is non-toxic and is also one of the best air-purifying plants for indoor environments.

Calypso Queen Cordyline Sunlight Requirements

This plant thrives in indirect bright light to low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight to maintain the deep color of the foliage. An east-facing window provides ideal conditions with its morning sunlight and lower light during the hottest part of the day.

Calypso Queen Cordyline Care

Repot ‘Calypso Queen’ every 2-3 years, as it does not handle being root-bound well. An all-purpose indoor potting mix with ample perlite or vermiculite ensures good root development and drainage. 

Moving the plant outdoors in the summer can offer a respite from the drying effects of air conditioning and low light levels. Acclimate the plant gradually to its new outdoor environment over a week or more to prevent foliage bleaching from strong light. Choose a location with shade or filtered sunlight during the hottest part of the day to avoid leaf scorch. Bring the plant indoors when nighttime temperatures drop to the mid- to low 50s °F.

Watering Calypso Queen Cordyline

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil have dried. In summer, this may be once or twice a week, depending on humidity levels and pot size. In winter, reduce watering to every 10-14 days. Brown tips on the foliage may indicate low humidity. Use a misting bottle or place the pot on a humidity tray to increase atmospheric moisture.
