The bright yellow flowers of the Chicklet® Gold Esperanza Trumpet Bush shine in a landscape. The botanical name is Tecoma stans 'SMNTSC’, and the tubular flowers open so wide that the petals curl back. The blooms are bright yellow with golden yellow accents in the interior. Enjoy the flowers throughout the summer and fall. The flowers bloom in clusters on sturdy, upright, and well-branched stems. Green foliage with serrated edges complements the blooms and gives the shrub a full appearance.
The flowers make this Trumpet Bush a natural focal point or specimen. Include the Chicklet® Gold Esperanza Tecoma in a border, landscape, or near the back of a mixed bed. Grow this beauty in a container to add color and privacy to a deck or balcony. The showy flowers are a pollinator favorite and attract hummingbirds. This shrub is easy to maintain and generally disease- and pest-free.
Chicklet® Gold Tecoma Care
Plant Trumpet Bush in full sun and in rich, moist, well-drained soil with a neutral pH for best performance. New plants need consistent water, while established plants prefer to dry out before getting water. Fertilize at the beginning, middle, and end of the growing season.
Prune the plant in early spring before new growth appears to remove overgrowth and maintain a pleasing shape. The Chicklet® Gold Esperanza blooms on new wood, so prune early to ensure flowering is not diminished. This deciduous shrub continues to rebloom without deadheading.
Chicklet® Gold Tecoma Spacing
Chicklet® Gold Esperanza Trumpet Bush grows 3 to 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Space plants 3 feet apart to create a dense, consistent planting.
