It’s the dawn of a new day in the garden and ‘Pink Dawn” salvia is it! Cotton candy pink buds with a dark pink center open up to entice all the pollinators including bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are always attracted to flowers with a “throat” for them to gather nectar so this is the ideal plant for those “flying flowers”!
‘Pink Dawn’ is a perennial so place it where you can enjoy it through the years. It is a clump forming plant so it will just increase in size. Use it in the perennial bed to provide color and height since it grows 16-20 inches high and wide. Planting several would provide an incredible display. It flowers beginning in spring and continuing into summer providing blooms while you wait for others to bloom.
Color Spires Pink Dawn Salvia Care
‘Pink Dawn’ salvia is deer and rabbit resistant, always a bonus for homeowners. Disease and insect resistant, it thrives from Zone 3a – 8b in full sun. Once established, it requires just an average soil and water and uses an all-purpose fertilizer.
Color Spires Pink Dawn Salvia Spacing
This is a plant that can be used in a number of ways. It can be a filler, as a border plant along a garden path or the flowers can even be dried and used in arrangements. ‘Pink Dawn’ can also be planted en masse, creating a striking statement in the garden.
