Cryptocoryne Mioya is a lovely, colorful aquatic plant recommended for beginners due to its easy-care requirements. They produce a reddish stem, with slender, ruffled-edged, upright leaves, ranging in color from copper brown to bright green. This plant can be grown either emersed or fully submerged. Mioya naturally grows in regions of India, New Guinea, and Southeast Asia. They prefer streams and rivers with low flow and will tolerate varying light conditions.

Best Locations For Growing Cryptocoryne Mioya

Cryptocoryne Mioya is an ideal foreground or midground plant in your aquascape. It will grow full and lush, filling up your tank. It prefers not to be moved or relocated once planted. Cryptocoryne Mioya can be grown partially out of water, “emersed”. The roots and substrate remain underwater, while the plant stems and leaves grow fully exposed to air. Alternatively, you can grow these plants completely under the water line.

Cryptocoryne Mioya Sunlight Requirements

This aquarium plant is not picky about light conditions and grows well under low to medium light levels.

Cryptocoryne Mioya Care

Once you plant your Cryptocoryne Mioya, there is little else you will need to do. This plant prefers temperatures ranging from 68 - 83 degrees F. It is sensitive to abrupt changes in its environment, which could result in “melt”, where its leaves turn mushy; thus avoid extremes and keep its environment consistent.

Cryptocoryne Mioya throws out runners under the substrate which will create more baby plants. Propagation is easy by splitting the rhizome or cutting the new growth off and planting. Use a nutrient-rich soil substrate in your aquarium to give your plants their best start.

Watering Cryptocoryne Mioya

Maintain aquarium water pH levels between 6.5 - 7.5, with water temperatures ranging from 68 - 83 degrees F.

Feeding Cryptocoryne Mioya

CO2 injection is recommended but not always necessary if grown in a healthy nutrient-rich substrate.
