Dwarf Fountain Grass (Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Hameln’) is a compact, mounding ornamental grass with bright green foliage and copper-colored, bottlebrush-like seed heads. This versatile grass adds movement and texture to the landscape and can be used in containers, as a specimen, in borders, or in mass plantings.
Its upright form also makes it an excellent background for perennial beds, and the seed heads can be cut for dried flower arrangements, providing interest through all four seasons.
Dwarf Fountain Grass Care
Plant in well-drained, average soil and water regularly until established. Once established, this drought-tolerant grass requires minimal maintenance. Prune back in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh growth.
Dwarf Fountain Grass Spacing
For best results, space plants 3 to 4 feet apart, center to center.
