New Plantings

  • Remove half of the soil and replace it with compost, peat moss or Espoma Organic Garden Soil.
  • Mix 3 cups of Rose-tone into amended soil.

Established Plants

Individual Plants: Apply 1-1/4 cup around each plant and scratch into the top inch of soil.

Rose Beds: Spread 6 lb. per 100 square feet of bed area and scratch into the top inch of soil.

Potted Plants: For soil preparation before planting mix 2 cups of Rose-tone into each cubic foot of potting mix. Feed established plants 1 teaspoon for each 3 inches of pot diameter. Repeat monthly.

How To Apply

New Plantings

Bare Root Plants

  1. Dig a hole 12” wide and 18” deep.
  2. Mix the removed soil with peat moss and 3 cups of Rose-tone.
  3. Partially refill the hole with this mixture, creating a soil cone in the center.
  4. Position the plant on the cone, spreading the roots evenly. The graft knuckle should be just below ground level.
  5. Add 4-5 inches of soil, firming around the roots. Fill the hole to within 2-3 inches of the top, water thoroughly, and let it soak in before completely filling in the hole.

Container Plants

  1. Follow the grower's instructions to determine if the plant should be removed from the container.
  2. Dig the hole to the same size as for bare root plants.
  3. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball matches the surrounding area.
  4. Position the plant, then refill the hole with soil as outlined above.
