Native to the Southwest Pacific Islands, the Fabian Aralia Stump Plant has a thick stocky stalk with small, round, visually interesting leaves. The leaves are shiny green on top and maroon to purple on the underside. It grows relatively slowly and is a great addition to your low-maintenance plant collection.
Best Locations For Growing Fabian Aralia Stump Plant
Keep your Fabian Aralia Stump Plant in a comfortable 70-80 degree F range in plenty of bright indirect light; avoid cold drafts as this could cause your plant to defoliate. Provide your plant with moderate to high humidity for top performance. You can use a humidifier or a pebble tray, or simply give your plant a good misting once in a while with room-temperature water to keep it happy. This plant is toxic to pets if ingested, so use caution when deciding on a new location for your Stump Plant.
Fabian Aralia Stump Plant Sunlight Requirements
This plant prefers bright, indirect light but will tolerate most light conditions. The best light situation is south- or west-facing windows, where your plant will get good light but not direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
Fabian Aralia Stump Plant Care
It's good practice to clean your plant leaves to remove dust. You can fill a watering container with filtered, distilled, or tap water that's been set out for 24 hours, place the plant in the sink, and gently wash the leaves with an overhead shower from the watering can. To keep the plant looking its best, trim off any brown leaves with sterile sharp scissors. Clean up any dried leaf material from the top of the soil and dispose of it. If you notice suckers on the Fabian Aralia Stump Plant, trim them back to the base with sterile scissors.
You can propagate the Fabian Aralia Stump Plant from softwood cuttings at least 8” long from the parent plant. Place the cuttings in clean water or moist potting soil. After 6-8 weeks, roots will begin to establish from cuttings. Pot them up in a well-draining cactus mix or potting soil with perlite added, as Fabian Aralia does not enjoy soggy conditions.
Watering Fabian Aralia Stump Plant
Allow the top few inches of soil to dry out in between waterings. Try to use room temperature water and water thoroughly, allowing the excess water to drain out of the bottom of the pot's holes. Excess water may cause leaf drop. If you use tap water, you can leave it out for 24 hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate. This is a plant that is best underwatered as opposed to overwatering. Check it every 7-10 days, make sure the top inch or two is dry, then give it a good thorough soaking. It's beneficial to provide moderate humidity, particularly in the dry winter months, just to make sure the plant's base is not sitting in water.
Feeding Fabian Aralia Stump Plant
You can fertilize once a month during the spring and summer with a well-balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Allow your plant to rest during the fall and winter months.

Plant Shipping
Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.
Winter to Early Spring
We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.
