Tillandsia floribunda sports long, slender grayish-green leaves and produces a unique spiked bloom. They are part of the family of plants known as epiphytes, which anchor themselves to other plants. In their natural habitat, you’ll find them growing on tree branches, a tree trunk, rock, or any surface that isn’t soil. The raised fuzzy hair or scale-like structures on their leaves absorb nutrients, humidity, and organic matter from the environment; the plant’s roots are merely utilized to attach themselves to another plant or surface.
Best Locations For Growing Floribunda Air Plant
Tillandsia floribunda is a very adaptable plant. They prefer bright indirect or filtered light, ideally for 6 hours; direct sunlight should be avoided. The optimum temperature range for Floribunda Air Plant to thrive is 60 to 85 degrees F. Floribunda Air Plant can be mounted on a large tree branch, a piece of wood, a rock, or a specialty display.
Floribunda Air Plant Sunlight Requirements
Floribunda Air Plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight, however, they can handle more direct sunlight during the winter season.
Floribunda Air Plant Care
Floribunda Air Plants love warm humid environments. Average to high temperatures help promote flowering; keep your Tillandsia in temperatures above 55 degrees. Air Plants can be sensitive to fertilizers, so use a watered-down Bromeliad fertilizer once or twice a month. If you notice dried leaves, take a pair of sharp clean scissors and remove dried foliage.
Watering Floribunda Air Plant
Your Floribunda Air Plant will enjoy a good soaking a few times a month on top of regular misting. Using rainwater or room-temperature filtered water is ideal. Try to avoid straight tap water if possible since it may have elevated salt and chlorine levels. If you only have tap water, set a bowl of tap water out for 24 hours, so some of the chlorine and other chemicals can dissipate. Mist with a sprayer frequently during the summer, and give your air plant a deep soak about once a week, fully submerging the plant for about 30 minutes. Afterward, very gently shake out the excess water and place your plant upside down on a towel for about 4 hours before returning to its designated spot. Be careful not to let water collect in the bottom leaves as this may cause rot.
Feeding Floribunda Air Plant
A Bromeliad or Tillandsia fertilizer can be used at a weakened strength once or twice per month to promote more vigorous growth and bloom.
