Best Locations For Growing Harrisii Air Plant

This plant can withstand full sun but prefers bright indirect or filtered light. These plants are great for a countertop to display their beautiful blooms. Because they are not toxic, you don’t have to worry about keeping them away from pets or children. A great plant for a bedroom or bathroom.

Harrisii Air Plant Sunlight Requirements

The Harrisii air plant grows best in bright indirect or filtered light. A countertop that receives 4-6 hours of natural light each day is the perfect location. Place your Harrisii near an east-facing window to give it morning sun and afternoon shade. You can also try placing it a few feet away from a south-facing window. You can add a sheer curtain to your south-facing window to filter the sunlight—while this variety can take some direct sun, it prefers indirect sunlight.

Harrisii Air Plant Care

The Harrisii air plant is known for being especially forgiving to beginning plant owners. Just make sure it receives the proper sunlight and water. You do not need to put your air plant in soil—a terrarium, shell, hanging or wooden display holder will do just fine while showcasing this beautiful plant.

Watering Harrisii Air Plant

No soil is required for your Harrisii. Just soak it for up to 30 minutes once a week. Make sure to let your air plant fully dry upside down before returning it to its container. If you live in a less humid environment, you may need to soak it a bit longer or more often. You can also water your air plant by spritzing it with a water bottle. Make sure to allow tap water to sit for 24 hours before watering your air plant. This ensures that any chlorine has evaporated.

Feeding Harrisii Air Plant

You can fertilize your Harrisii by using an air plant-specific or bromeliad fertilizer every few months. A regular, water-soluble houseplant fertilizer also works, but make sure to dilute it to 1/4 of the recommended strength. Just add the fertilizer to your water when you soak or mist your Harrisii.
