Hollywood Hibiscus™ Talk of the Town™ Tropical Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'AH-64') produces stunning pink-toned flowers from late spring until the arrival of cooler nights. This variety reach approximately 3 to 4 feet in height, adding a compact focal point to both gardens and patios. Its repeat bloom cycles maintain a steady splash of color, backed by glossy green leaves. It is one of our top recommended shrubs for its dependable show and manageable growth habit.
Talk of the Town™ remains evergreen in frost-free zones and handles moderate dryness once roots are settled. It typically resists common garden pests when grown under proper conditions. Originating from warmer regions, it can be cultivated as a perennial in mild climates or treated as an annual where winters are harsh. Its extended flowering window is perfect for hedging, container groupings, and border plantings.
Hollywood Hibiscus™ Talk of the Town™ Tropical Hibiscus Care
Position it in a site with full sun or at least six hours of direct light daily, using rich soil that drains well and has a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Water consistently during hot spells, keeping the soil slightly moist but never soggy. A balanced fertilizer every two to four weeks supports regular bud formation. In colder regions, consider growing it in pots and moving it indoors once temperatures dip below 50°F.
Prune lightly to remove faded flower heads or leggy stems, helping the plant maintain a neat form. Clip away damaged branches anytime to encourage new shoots. In climates with harsh winters, overwinter container-grown specimens indoors in a bright spot, watering sparingly to avoid soggy roots. Choose a high-quality potting mix with proper drainage, and re-pot when necessary if roots become crowded.
Hollywood Hibiscus™ Talk of the Town™ Tropical Hibiscus Spacing
Space these shrubs about 48 inches apart when planting in rows or groupings to allow each shrub to reach its mature spread. Closer spacing can create a denser look but may require extra pruning. For container use, select a pot at least 16 inches in diameter so roots can develop without constraint.
