Best Locations For Growing Mammy Croton
The Mammy Croton is a wonderful addition to any room that receives adequate light. Because it loves high humidity, you can also place it in a bathroom with a window or skylight. Just be careful with children and pets—this plant is highly toxic to humans and animals. The seeds are potentially fatal.
Mammy Croton Sunlight Requirements
Mammy Croton does well in partial shade to full sun. You’ll get the best leaf color by providing it with some direct sun and bright light. A south- or west-facing window with at least two to three hours of direct sun daily is preferred, but make sure to provide some protection from direct sun because this can lead to leaf scorch.
Mammy Croton Care
Crotons need well-draining soil with plenty of humus. You can prune your Mammy to maintain its shape and keep its size under control by cutting the stems back at the base. This plant is susceptible to mealybugs, spider mites and plant scale. Neem oil is a good solution to eradicate these issues.
Watering Mammy Croton
The Mammy Croton is a tropical plant and prefers high humidity, so don’t let your plant dry out. You can set a moist pebble tray or humidifier nearby. The ideal humidity is 40-80 percent.
Regular watering is important, but do not overwater. Keep soil moist but not soggy. Never allow the soil to dry out completely.
Feeding Mammy Croton
Fertilize seasonally in the spring, summer and fall. Do not fertilize in the winter. A good quality granular or liquid fertilizer will do the job.
