  • Easy Aquarium Plant
  • Light Preference/Tolerated (Bright Indirect Light, Medium Light)
  • Attaches To Porous Material
  • Mature Height 16-18 inches
  • Pet Safe

This small ornamental water fern adds dimension and contrast to your aquascape design. This plant is also extremely low maintenance and relatively slow growing. Bolbitis difformis ‘Mini Leaf’ spreads like a carpet on the bottom of a tank, attaching itself to any available porous material. This plant is also excellent for use in closed terrariums with high humidity.

Best Locations For Growing Mini Bolbitis

Aquarium plants prefer to grow in water that is between 65-80 degrees F, which is typically room temperature. Locations near drafts or in full sun should be avoided. Adding artificial lighting to an aquarium may be necessary if the tank is in a room without natural light, such as the basement or interior.

Mini Bolbitis Sunlight Requirements

High light levels may produce too much algae. Mini Leaf Bolbitis tolerates the lowest light levels. Inside the aquarium or terrarium, it is the lowest growing layer and is often shaded by taller plants.

Mini Bolbitis Care

The dividing of this plant is easily done by separating rhizomes. Place Mini Bolbitis nearest to the water flow to help keep algae from growing. Planting its rhizomes above the substrate will keep Bolbitis thriving. Attach roots to any hard materials in the aquarium for anchoring.

Watering Mini Bolbitis

Bolbitis does not require extra watering in an aquarium and can happily live out of the water in a high-humidity environment such as a closed terrarium.

Feeding Mini Bolbitis

Providing CO2 injection will help this Bolbitis to grow consistently. Most Aquarium plants receive all the nutrients they need from fish food and waste.
