The Mon Amie Blue Forget-Me-Not or Myosotis sylvatica is a charming plant that is relatively small but makes a big impact. Pink buds open to reveal 5-petal, blue blooms with yellow eyes. The flowers bloom in cymes, or clusters. This spring bloomer features gray-green foliage that gives the plant a full appearance.

This plant has a low, mounded appearance and makes an excellent groundcover. Feature Mon Amie Blue in beds, borders, or containers. This plant is a vigorous grower and can quickly overtake an area, so featuring it in containers keeps it under control. This plant grows as a perennial in zones 3 through 8.

Mon Amie Blue Forget-Me-Not Care

Grow the Forget-Me-Not in full sun or partial shade, although this plant prefers morning sun and afternoon shade in warmer climates. Plant it in rich, moist, and well-drained soil. This beauty has high water needs, so keep the soil consistently moist, but do not leave it in standing water. Top-dress the soil with organic compost or mulch or apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring.

It’s hard to forget these plants because they readily self-seed and will quickly fill in an area. Some gardeners opt to remove or cut the greenery back after the flowers fade to prevent all of the plants from setting seeds.

Mon Amie Blue Forget-Me-Not Spacing

The Mon Amie Blue Forget-Me-Not has a spreading growth habit and reaches 6 to 8 inches tall and wide. Space plants 10 inches apart, and they will fill in to create a lovely carpet of greenery in no time.
