Each NIDO Cottage includes a sturdy, rust-resistant stainless steel suspension system. The hanger supports up to 22 pounds for NIDO 28 or approximately 39.7 pounds for NIDO 35 when used according to LECHUZA's instructions.
Hanging Safety: Use a securely installed hook or bracket rated for the full weight of the planter when filled with plants, soil, and water. Mounting hooks and building hardware are not part of the planter's hanging cable assembly.
Removable Planting Liner
The removable liner makes planting and seasonal changes easier. Prepare your flowers on a work surface, then place the liner into the decorative outer basket before hanging.
How the Self-Watering System Works
- Prepare the Basket: Install the included watering components and LECHUZA-PON drainage layer.
- Add Your Plants: Fill the removable liner with suitable potting mix and your chosen flowers or foliage.
- Establish the Roots: Water from above for approximately 2-3 weeks, checking moisture as roots become established.
- Begin Reservoir Watering: Add water through the filling shaft according to LECHUZA's instructions and monitor the water level indicator.
- Monitor and Refill: Refill based on your plants' needs, allowing suitable dry periods between watering cycles.
Outdoor Use: Remove the drainage screw to allow excess rainwater to escape and prevent waterlogging. Hanging baskets may dry more quickly in sunny, windy, or hot conditions, so monitor the plants regularly.

NIDO Cottage includes LECHUZA-PON mineral substrate for the drainage layer. Use suitable potting mix for the remaining planting area, or purchase additional LECHUZA-PON Mineral Potting Mix if you prefer a mineral growing medium throughout the basket.
