Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ is a lovely tropical perennial aroid that is part of the Araceae family. It has lovely long, heart-shaped foliage with bright-pink petioles. New growth leaves unfurl as bright yellow-green and then turn into a deeper mottled green as they mature. It has a slow to moderate growth rate, but when placed in an ideal environment, it can reach up to 5 feet in height and its bright leaves can get over 1 foot wide. Painted Lady loves to climb so provide a vertical support and watch it soar.
Best Locations For Growing Philodendron 'Painted Lady'
Prefers a warm climate with room temperatures ranging from 55-85 degrees F. Provide plenty of humidity, between 65-80%. It can trail or you can provide a vertical support or moss pole to grow up. Be mindful to keep this plant out of reach of children or pets.
Philodendron 'Painted Lady' Sunlight Requirements
This Philodendron requires medium to bright indirect light. Pale leaves are indicative of a plant getting too much sunlight, and if the trailing stems become leggy, that is an indicator it's not receiving enough sunlight.
Philodendron 'Painted Lady' Care
Plant Painted Lady in well-draining, chunky soil to promote air circulation to its roots. Propagation can be accomplished by stem cuttings in soil or water.
Watering Philodendron 'Painted Lady'
This plant performs best when the soil dries out in between waterings. If you notice yellow leaves, it's a sign of overwatering. Because it prefers moist soil, planting it in a light, well-draining potting mix with ample drainage holes in the pot is crucial.
Feeding Philodendron 'Painted Lady'
Apply a well-balanced houseplant fertilizer between the spring and summer growing months. No need to fertilize Painted Lady during the winter.
