This evergreen does best if provided medium to bright indirect light. Avoid direct light, however, due to the possibility of the light fading this plant’s variegated hues.
Pink Earth Star Plant Care
Pink Star Cryptanthus requires well-draining soil that is slightly acidic to slightly alkaline with a pH range of 6.1 to 7.8. To prevent fungal disease, a good houseplant potting soil with some peat moss and perlite/sand added is recommended. Low maintenance, this bromeliad neither requires frequent pruning or repotting. Simply remove dead or damaged leaves as necessary. Finally, since this plant lives for only a few years, you can use offsets to propagate it, thereby creating a lifelong opportunity to enjoy this species without ever buying another plant.
Watering Pink Earth Star Plant
This mesic bromeliad needs to be watered often during the summer but infrequently during the winter. Pink Star Cryptanthus does not enjoy sitting in soggy soil, so conduct a moisture check prior to watering. Simply insert your finger an inch or so beneath the soil, and water if dry.
Feeding Pink Star Cryptanthus
During the spring, you can feed Pink Star Cryptanthus a balanced water-soluble fertilizer, but avoid fertilizing this perennial during the months of summer and autumn.
