Pink Star Cryptanthus requires well-draining soil that is slightly acidic to slightly alkaline with a pH range of 6.1 to 7.8. To prevent fungal disease, a good houseplant potting soil with some peat moss and perlite/sand added is recommended. Low maintenance, this bromeliad neither requires frequent pruning or repotting. Simply remove dead or damaged leaves as necessary. This mesic bromeliad needs to be watered often during the summer but infrequently during the winter. Pink Star Cryptanthus does not enjoy sitting in soggy soil, so conduct a moisture check prior to watering. Simply insert your finger an inch or so beneath the soil, and water if dry.
