Found naturally in various countries in South America, these low-maintenance plants will brighten any environment with their colorful, dramatic bracts and flowers, giving the space a cheerful, tropical vibe. Bromeliad Guzmania is considered epiphytic so it attaches itself to trees and other substrates with its roots rarely reaching the soil. They flower once during their lifespan, but the flower can last 3-6 months. After flowering, a healthy plant will then produce new ‘pups’ that will grow into new adult flowering plants.
Best Locations For Growing Pink Guzmania Bromeliad
Guzmania ‘Pink’ Bromeliad prefers comfortable room temperatures ranging between 60 - 80 degrees F. This plant enjoys moderate to high humidity. Be sure to keep your Bromeliad Guzmania ‘Pink’ away from cold drafts. Place it in an area of the home where higher humidity is maintained, such as a bathroom or kitchen. Alternatively, if your home is dry, consider using a humidifier, particularly during the winter months.
Pink Guzmania Bromeliad Sunlight Requirements
Bromeliads typically require plenty of bright indirect sunlight to look their best.
Pink Guzmania Bromeliad Care
Plant Guzmania ’Pink’ Bromeliad in a light, well-draining potting soil with plenty of peat moss, vermiculite, and bark, or use a barky mixture specifically formulated for orchids and bromeliads. A good tip is to add clean rocks or terracotta shards at the bottom of your pot to weigh it down because Bromeliads will grow large bracts and flowers, which can produce a top-heavy plant. When your Bromeliad Guzmania ‘Pink’ is finished blooming, remove the spent flower with clean pruners to the base of the plant. This will provide more light for the pups to grow.
Watering Pink Guzmania Bromeliad
When the soil around the plant is nearly dried out, give this Bromeliad a thorough soak; avoid letting the soil stay soggy as this would be detrimental to the Bromeliad's roots. Pour water into the ‘cup’ (the part of the plant where the leaves meet together to form a cup), and empty it often to prevent mineral buildup. It's best to use filtered water or allow tap water to sit out for 24 hours to evaporate excess chlorine. Guzmania ‘Pink’ Bromeliad will benefit from moderate to high humidity levels.
Feeding Pink Guzmania Bromeliad
Use a balanced, liquid houseplant fertilizer during the growing months of spring and summer, and when the plant is in bloom.
