Primo® Pistachio Ambrosia Coral Bells (Heuchera hybrid 'Pistachio Ambrosia') features large chartreuse leaves that brighten partially shaded areas. The leaves have scalloped edges and grow in a rosette formation, creating a full look. In our experience, its foliage maintains bright coloration from spring well into autumn. This variety grows around 8 to 10 inches tall, while the mounding habit extends up to 18 inches wide, giving it a compact profile perfect for smaller garden spaces. Many gardeners treasure its pink, airy flower scapes that draw pollinators.

Grow this beauty in beds, borders, mass plantings, or any shady areas that need bold, chartreuse color. This plant is easy to maintain and salt tolerant, making it a good choice near roadways or ocean areas. We have observed it tolerates moderate drought once established, and it generally escapes significant pest troubles. Its sturdy growth requires minimal fuss, and deer tend to ignore it in favor of other plants. Originating from complex breeding lines, it fits seamlessly into modern, low-maintenance landscapes.

'Pistachio Ambrosia' produces clusters of tiny pink flowers on top of thin stems during the summer. The flowers are a draw for pollinators, but some gardeners remove the flower spikes to encourage more foliage growth. Heuchera plants retain their foliage in the warmer reaches of their growing zones, allowing this plant to provide year-round color. Grow the Primo® Pistachio Ambrosia Coral Bells as a perennial in zones 4 through 9. This perennial is well-suited for mixed borders, mass plantings, and container arrangements.

Primo® Pistachio Ambrosia Coral Bells Care

This plant does well in part shade to full shade, with a few hours of sunlight bringing out the best growth. Plant in well-draining soil enhanced with compost or organic matter. A slightly acidic to neutral soil pH helps maintain stable root health and leaf appearance. Water regularly during the first growing season and afterward only as needed, avoiding soggy conditions around the crown. A balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring supports strong leaf color and healthy growth.

Remove faded flower stalks or damaged foliage to keep plants tidy, and cut back any dead leaves before new growth in spring. Mulching around the root zone is helpful in colder regions, as it shields crowns from harsh weather. Container-grown specimens appreciate consistent moisture but should not sit in waterlogged soil. Relocating containers to a sheltered spot during severe winter weather can safeguard roots from freezing.

Primo® Pistachio Ambrosia Coral Bells Spacing

The Primo® Pistachio Ambrosia Coral Bells has a mounded, upright growth habit and will reach 10 to 12 inches tall and 24 to 30 inches wide. Space plants 2 feet apart to create a full, leafy planting. Containers should measure at least 12 inches in diameter to allow ample room for root expansion. Size up the pot every year to allow the foliage to spread more freely and reduce watering frequency.
