Feature
Syngoniums are leafy, vining plants known for their distinct, pointed foliage. The Red Arrow Syngonium has the easy care requirements and leafy good looks you expect from a Syngonium but it also has stunning foliage that changes shape with age. The leaves are glossy and dark green with purple undersides. Young leaves are shaped like an arrowhead but develop deep lobes with age that almost resemble multiple leaflets. Mature plants can reach several feet long.
Best Locations For Growing Red Arrow Syngonium
Grow the Red Arrow Syngonium in a hanging basket, or give it a trellis and let the vines climb. This tropical plant thrives in increased sunlight and prefers extra humidity, so a kitchen or bathroom are good choices, but it can live in any room of a home as long as the conditions are suitable. Eating or chewing on any part of a Red Arrow Syngonium will cause pain and discomfort. Keep this plant away from young kids and pets.
Red Arrow Syngonium Sunlight Requirements
Select a location that receives medium to bright, indirect sunlight. Increased sunlight maintains the vibrant hues of the foliage and promotes new growth. Plants grown in low light will become leggy. Keep the Red Arrow Syngonium out of direct sunlight because it will burn the leaves.
Red Arrow Syngonium Care
Trim straggly stems and remove dead growth as necessary. The Red Arrow Syngonium is easy to maintain and generally needs to be repotted with fresh soil every one to two years. When the plant outgrows the current container, give it a pot measuring one to two inches bigger. Use airy soil with increased organic content. The soil should allow moisture to drain.
Watering Red Arrow Syngonium
Water your Red Arrow Syngonium when the top couple of inches of potting soil are dry. This plant likes damp conditions, but too much water can damage the roots and foliage, so feel the soil before watering. Plan to water less often in the winter.
High humidity is ideal. Above-average humidity can be hard to find naturally, but a pebble tray or humidifier can provide the extra moisture this Syngonium needs.
Feeding Red Arrow Syngonium
Keep the Red Arrow Syngonium growing by applying a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Feed the plant every four weeks during the spring and summer. Stop feeding during the winter, when growth slows or stops.
