The wild variation in the size and shape of Snake Plants never ceases to amaze. The Stuckii Snake Plant (Sansevieria cylindrica) wows with its thick, spear-like, green-striated leaves, emerging from a central point like a spiny-desert starburst. Like other Snake Plants, the Stuckii can survive in a wide range of conditions and requires water infrequently, making it a go-to plant for plant newbies and collectors alike. Snake Plants do not have to all look the same, and the Stuckii proves that point (pun intended).

Best Locations For Growing Stuckii Snake Plant

The Stuckii Snake Plant can be placed in a range of light, from a bright windowsill that gets afternoon light to a windowless office with fluorescent lighting. The versatility of Snake Plants is part of what makes them so successful in the world of houseplants. Place Stuckii on a coffee table or up on a bookshelf, bringing life to a spot regardless of proximity to a window. Snake Plants are toxic, so take care in placing them out of reach of children and pets.

Stuckii Snake Plant Sunlight Requirements

Snake Plants can handle both direct sunlight and low light. Place the Stuckii Snake Plant in any window, keeping in mind that the watering needs of a Snake Plant will change depending on lighting. Because Snake Plants are low-light tolerant, they can also be placed in the interior of a room. Low light does not mean no light, however, so be sure to keep Snake Plants where they can access at least some artificial light throughout the day.

Stuckii Snake Plant Care

Snake Plants require little care other than infrequent deep watering. Because these succulents like to dry out in between watering and are slow growers, they can remain in the same pot for years. When Stuckii has outgrown its pot, choose a pot with drainage holes that is only slightly larger than the one it is currently in. Use a well-draining succulent mix to help the roots dry out, as these plants can be prone to rot when they are kept in wet soil for long.

Watering Stuckii Snake Plant

Snake Plants are succulents, meaning their roots and leaves store water. Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering. When you do water, thoroughly soak the soil, adding water until it comes out the bottom of the pot and the soil retains moisture. Snake Plants benefit from bottom watering, when a pot is set into a few inches of water, which is absorbed through the pot’s drainage holes. This watering method prevents water from collecting in the crown and in between the leaves of the plant, which can lead to rot. The frequency of watering will depend on lighting, temperature, and humidity. In general, water the Stuckii Snake Plant once a month in the spring and summer, cutting back on watering when the plant is in lower light and during the winter.

Feeding Stuckii Snake Plant

Like other Snake Plants, Stuckii is a slow grower and low feeder. Regardless, this plant may benefit from the addition of liquid cactus or succulent fertilizer a few times a year. In the spring and summer, add a liquid fertilizer into your watering routine once a month, taking care to follow dilution recommendations. Fertilizing in the winter is not necessary as plants are not actively growing as much.
