Feature
Strong, sturdy, and compact, the Twist Snake Plant is a perfect choice for even the most neglectful plant parent. This bold snake plant features twisted leaves with gold margins and green centers. Foliage emerges from the base in a bird’s nest shape. Botanically it’s named Sansevieria trifasciata and common names include ‘Twisted Sister’, or ‘Gold Twist'. This plant originates from Africa, Madagascar, and Southern Asia.
Best Locations For Growing Twist Snake Plant
A great location for this plant would be close to a bright east- or west-facing window where it can receive adequate filtered light and warmth. The Twist Snake Plant is also able to tolerate periods of low light, which makes it perfect for a bathroom, bedroom, or office.
Twist Snake Plant Sunlight Requirements
Snake plants prefer bright indirect light; usually placement in an east- or west-facing window is perfect. However, if you need to add some green to a low-light area, Twist Snake Plant will tolerate it. Give it a try to green up your small spaces!
Twist Snake Plant Care
This plant is super easy to grow and ideal for beginners. Sansevieria trifasciata twist is a slow grower and usually doesn't need pruning. Use a cactus and succulent soil when repotting every few years, and ensure it fits snugly in its pot.
Watering Twist Snake Plant
Allow this plant to dry out completely between waterings. Depending on the light exposure and humidity levels, drying out the soil may take a longer or shorter period of time. When you go to water, ensure that the soil and pot both have adequate drainage and soak the plant thoroughly. Snake plants do not like their roots to be sitting in water. During the winter months, water your twisty friend sparingly.
Feeding Twist Snake Plant
The Twist Snake Plant is not a heavy feeder. Use a liquid fertilizer for houseplants or succulents diluted to half the strength recommended on the label every 2-3 months.
