Hoya kerrii is also known as the Sweetheart Hoya. This variegated variety has bright-yellow markings on the edges of a heart-shaped leaf. Sweetheart Hoya is a one-of-a-kind gift for any occasion and is very easy to care for. The heart-shaped cutting will grow very slowly and will rarely need repotting.
Best Locations For Growing Variegated Sweetheart Hoya
Sweetheart Hoyas will thrive in normal humidity levels indoors. Rooms with extra humidity, such as the kitchen or bathroom, are good places to grow Hoya with little effort. Sweetheart Hoya is not toxic and can be grown as a decoration in a child’s room or near pets.
Variegated Sweetheart Hoya Sunlight Requirements
Place Sweetheart Hoya in a south- or southwest-facing window. Bright direct light is needed. Keep the plant out of drafts from doors or the drying heat from a furnace vent.
Variegated Sweetheart Hoya Care
No special attention is needed for a Sweetheart Hoya. This plant grows very slowly and will not need to be repotted for several years. Hoyas are epiphytic plants that thrive in fast-draining soil with plenty of perlite and fine orchid bark mixed in.
Watering Variegated Sweetheart Hoya
Only water Hoya when the soil is dry. This succulent stores moisture in its leaves and never likes to be in soggy soil. Depending on the room's humidity, check for watering about once a week as a general rule. Watering is the same year-round, and this plant does not have a dormancy period.
Feeding Variegated Sweetheart Hoya
Sweetheart Hoya is not a heavy-feeding plant and should only be fertilized once or twice a year. Use a liquid feed formulated for succulents and cacti. Feed the plant at half the manufacturer’s recommended strength as part of regular watering.
