The most challenging part of Philodendron Warscewiczii is pronouncing the name (var-she-Vich-ee-eye, by the way). Often this plant is referred to by its scientific name of Philodendron aurea flavum, which is easier for most people to remember. The gorgeous bright yellow-green of the leaves and compact upright growth make Warscewiczii Philodendron a must-have for tropical collectors.
Best Locations For Growing Warscewiczii Philodendron
This plant will add a distinctive pop of color wherever it is placed in a house or on a patio or deck for the summer. Average room temperature and high humidity are a must for vigorous growth. The smaller size of this Philodendron makes it easy to place in a kitchen or bathroom. Do not grow this plant in rooms where children or pets are left unsupervised. All parts of Warscewiczii are toxic.
Warscewiczii Philodendron Sunlight Requirements
Indirect bright light is perfect when growing this plant indoors. The vibrant yellow of the leaves is easily bleached or burned in sunnier locations. Place away from a south-facing window or directly in a west or east-facing window. Warscewiczii enjoys growing outdoors in the summer. Make sure the spot has partial shade all day.
Warscewiczii Philodendron Care
Philodendron Aurea is a quick grower and will need repotting every 2-3 years in the spring. Use a potting mix with perlite and coconut coir added for good drainage. The pot you use also needs plenty of drainage holes in the bottom. Waterlogged soil will cause root rot and death. Warscewiczii likes to have temperatures and humidity that are constant. Average room temperature and humidity are acceptable since this Philodendron originates from a drier climate than other tropicals.
Watering Warscewiczii Philodendron
Philodendrons like to have heavy watering and be left to dry out in between sessions. Let the top 3-4 inches of soil dry, and the roots will be happy for this tropical. Once every 10-14 days during the winter and once a week during the summer are typical watering schedules for Warscewiczii Philodendron. Empty any standing water in saucers and cache pots, so the roots do not sit in water.
Feeding Warscewiczii Philodendron
Fertilizing is only needed during the active growing period of spring and summer. A balanced houseplant feed with a ratio of 10-10-10 is perfect and supports healthy foliage growth and a strong root system. Use a diluted liquid formulation once every 2-3 weeks instead of regular watering.
