For a houseplant with unusual and stunning foliage, the White Fusion Calathea is definitely worth considering. One of the rarer calatheas, it produces green-and-white marbled foliage with a pink underside, which is bound to draw interest. Once you understand its growing requirements, it should thrive and brighten up any spot it is displayed.

Best Locations For Growing White Fusion Calathea

The White Fusion Calathea is not considered a toxic plant to pets or humans, meaning it can be grown in any room where it receives the right growing conditions. With a preference for high humidity levels, this plant is ideal for placing in a kitchen or a bathroom.

White Fusion Calathea Sunlight Requirements

As with other calatheas, this ‘White Fusion’ cultivar needs just the right amount of light to look its best. Diffused, bright light is what to aim for, as too much direct light can fade the leave’s markings, while too little will limit its growth.

White Fusion Calathea Care

Disliking cold drafts and extreme temperature fluctuations, it is important to keep this plant at a temperature between 65 and 80°F with medium to high humidity levels. To increase humidity levels, the plant can be misted regularly or placed upon a tray of wet gravel or pebbles. If any of the leaves begin to brown or die back, don’t worry as they can be trimmed back to the base of the stem using a clean and sharp pair of scissors.

Watering White Fusion Calathea

The White Fusion Calathea requires moist soil that is not allowed to completely dry out. However, it can be prone to root rot, so overly wet or soggy soils must equally be avoided. As a guide, once the top layer of soil is dry, it can be watered again. To help prevent soggy soil and root rot, allow any excess water to drain away after watering.

Feeding White Fusion Calathea

To help promote lush and strong growth and to help maintain plant health, the White Fusion Calathea can be fed during the growing season. A balanced houseplant fertilizer mixed to half or even quarter strength and applied every four weeks is recommended.
