The 3-N-1 Cocktail Smoothie™ mix includes three of the most delectable hibiscus colors: ‘Blueberry Smoothie™’, ‘Peppermint Smoothie™’ and juicy ‘Raspberry Smoothie™’. Use these Hibiscus syriacus plants to create an instant garden border, or individually pot them as specimen shrubs for a deck or patio area. The lovely pastel colors do not fade in the sun and will give your garden or patio a fresh and calming feel. All three cultivars are easy to grow and guaranteed to give you years of enjoyment.
The ruffly, double flowers and deep green foliage make this Rose of Sharon collection perfect for bordering a fence line or acting as a backdrop to early flowering perennials and bulbs. Grow the plants in containers individually or grouped together for a display bursting with color for months. The Smoothie™ Collection is disease resistant, maintaining clean foliage throughout the summer into fall. Deer and rabbits rarely browse on Rose of Sharon, making this a good choice for areas with high foraging activity.
3-N-1 Cocktail Smoothie™ Rose of Sharon Care
Rose of Sharon is not a demanding shrub and is possibly one of the best blooming plants for low-maintenance gardening. These shrubs grow well in both clay and sandy loam, as long as the soil drains well and retains a moderate amount of moisture. Plant them in full sun to partial shade for good flowering and vigorous growth of foliage. Provide a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the early spring to boost new growth. Apply the feed as a top-dressing over the root zone and water it into the soil well.
Pruning is easy with Rose of Sharons. The flowers and top growth can be left on the plants through the winter. In the colder USDA zones, this spent growth will help to protect the plants from harsh weather conditions. Prune in early spring before the new growth emerges to ensure large blooms later in the summer. Keep in mind that Rose of Sharons are often some of the last plants to leaf out in the spring but they will catch up by early summer.
3-N-1 Cocktail Smoothie™ Rose of Sharon Spacing
Cocktail Smoothie™ Rose of Sharon reaches a height of 8-10 feet and a rather narrow spread of 4-6 feet. Space multiple plants 4 feet apart, center on center, for a dense planting in a garden border. Container-grown Rose of Sharon will need at least a 24-inch diameter pot with a heavy or wide bottom to counteract any top-heavy growth.
