‘Americana White’ geranium is one of those plants whose white flower is a clean, bright white, not often found in white flowers. Technically what we call geraniums are really pelargoniums whereas a true geranium is a low growing perennial. This plant is a long bloomer from planting to frost with occasional deadheading to keep the flowers coming strong. An easy care plant with average moisture needs and drought tolerant once established. The bright emerald green foliage accentuates the white flowers giving it a distinct look in the garden!
‘Americana White’ will attract pollinators including the tiniest ones that we often miss in the garden. This is an ideal plant for containers, borders and even as a mass planting. The upright growth habit is about 16 inches high and wide making it a right sized plant for the garden.
Americana® White Zonal Geranium Care
‘Americana White’ is normally disease resistant and requires being planted in a fertile well-drained soil or quality potting mix in a container for best growth and flowering. It is hardy from Zone 9a-11b and requires nothing more than some water and fertilizer.
Deadheading is important. Deadheading simply means removing the old flowers. When removing ‘Americana White’s flower or any other geranium, simply follow the stem of the flower all the way to the main part of the plant and simply take your finger and snap it off! The base will look similar to a horseshoe and you will know that you have done it right!
Americana® White Zonal Geranium Spacing
When planting it in the garden, make sure to allow for enough airflow between plants to reduce any chances of disease during wet weather. If you water with a hose, it is always recommended that you water plants at the base of the plant instead of overhead watering.
