The perfect fern for any shady area! The Brilliance Autumn Fern is resistant to deer and rabbits. New growth appears bright orange before maturing into a dark green. This is a popular fern for ground cover and foundation planting.
The foliage is what makes this fern so popular. It begins as a bright orange before its fronds transform into a mature deep green color. In the fall, lovely red spores appear on its leaves. The dimensions for the Brilliance Autumn Fern are twenty to twenty-four inches tall and wide. Use in border planting, in containers as a filler, ground cover, or mass planting. Its fronds are also a popular choice when looking to add texture to arrangements.
Brilliance Autumn Fern Care
This fern should be planted in part shade to full shade. Soil needs to have good drainage and should remain moist. Ph levels for the soil need to be neutral to acidic in order for your fern to thrive. Loose organic soil is best. Mildly to moderately dry soils are tolerated once established. Water needs are average for the Brilliance Autumn Fern. Mulch in the winter to protect the fern from weeds and harsh temperatures. In the spring, trim off dead or damaged fronds.
Brilliance Autumn Fern Spacing
Spacing for the Brilliance Autumn Fern needs to be twenty to twenty-four inches, center on center. If aiming for a seamless appearance, space twenty inches, center on center.
